On the third day of his Bihar visit, Election Commissioner Dr Vivek Joshi reviewed the security arrangements for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in the Indo-Nepal border areas. Dr Joshi held a meeting with SSB officials and district officials of West Champaran at Valmiki Nagar.
Dr Joshi made several suggestions and initiatives on the feedback received from officials during the meeting.
He also conducted a field visit, getting firsthand experience of polling booths located in the riverine and jungle areas of Valmiki Nagar, which shares a long border with neighbouring Nepal.
During the high-level review meeting with election department officials from the Champaran region, Dr Joshi examined the electoral roll, focusing on youth voter participation. He directed officials to install QR scan codes at public places to facilitate the enrollment of potential young voters. The election commissioner emphasised inclusive elections, ensuring participation from voters from all walks of life.
On the fourth and final day of his Bihar visit, Dr Joshi will visit Vaishali district to review and oversee the district’s best electoral practices.
