Election Commissioner, Dr S.S. Sandhu reviews progress of pre-SIR mapping figures of Punjab

Election Commissioner Dr S.S. Sandhu today reviewed the progress of Pre-Special Intensive Revision (pre-SIR) mapping figures of Punjab. The Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Mrs Anindita Mitra, informed him that 72.26% of the total voters have been successfully mapped under the pre-SIR activity in the state. She said the department is regularly reviewing the pre-SIR mapping, and the District Election Officers have also been asked to ensure polling booth-wise monitoring.

Our Correspondent reports that Mr Sandhu, who was on a day-long visit to Jalandhar, while interacting with the Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers and other concerned officials of Jalandhar and Kapurthala, discussed the challenges and solutions related to mapping. He directed the EROs to complete this important work on a priority basis. Apart from this, he asked the officials to contact and motivate such BLOs whose performance is below par so that the set target can be achieved by speeding up the mapping.
