The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the transfer of senior officers in West Bengal government, following the announcement of Assembly elections in the state. In a letter, the Commission said it has reviewed the poll preparedness for the general election to the Legislative Assembly and directs the transfers. It has been directed that Dushyant Nariala be posted as Chief Secretary of the state Government in place of Nandini Chakraborty.
Ms Sanghamitra Ghosh has been posted as Principal Secretary, Home and Hill Affairs, Government of West Bengal. Sujeet Kumar Mishra, Secretary of the Election Commission, said that the directions of the Commission are to be implemented with immediate effect and a compliance report in respect of the joining of above officers is to be sent by 3PM today.
Further, the officers transferred out shall not be posted in any election-related posts till the completion of elections, the letter said.
