The India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management is going on in New Delhi. On the second day today, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr Vivek Joshi, launched ECINET, a unified digital platform integrating over 40 apps and web services. Speaking on the occasion, CEC said that this is a comprehensive digital platform to facilitate citizen engagement and participation in the electoral process. He added that ECINET connects citizens, candidates, political parties, and election officials, offering all key election services on one platform. Mr Kumar also informed that the platform has been developed in all 22 Indian languages along with English.
On the second day of the conference, bilateral discussions were held between the Chief Election Commissioner and delegations from various countries. Talking exclusively to Akashvani News after the bilateral meeting, the United Kingdom’s Election Commissioner, Carole Mills, said that discussions focused on India’s election arrangements and the ECINET app. She added that both sides also explored the possibility of closer cooperation between India and the UK in the field of electoral management.
Thematic sessions, EVM demonstration and meetings of the Election Management Bodies working group were also held today. This three-day international conference will conclude tomorrow.
