Election Commission has said that citizens and political parties can now use the C-Vigil App on ECINET platform to lodge complaints related to violations of Model Code of Conduct. The Commission in a statement said that a complaint monitoring system has also been set up including a Call Centre number 1950 through which complaint can be lodged by the public or political party, with the District Election Officer and Returning Officer concerned. This system is now operational round the clock. The Commission said that 650 complaints related to violations of Model Code of Conduct, have been lodged using the C-Vigil App during the ensuing the Assembly elections in Bihar and bye-elections to eight Assembly Constituencies in other States so far. Of them, 649 complains have been disposed of with 612 complaints comprising 94 per cent of the complaints were resolved within 100 minutes. The Poll Body sid that 824 Flying squads have been deployed across Bihar to ensure that the complaints are attended within 100 minutes.The Commission has directed the States and UTs to ensure strict compliance with the instructions to enforce MCC.
The Commission further informed that till today, over 71 crore rupees worth of cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals and other freebies have been seized through a coordinated approach involving multi-enforcement agencies across different States and UTs.
