Election campaigning in Puducherry is in full swing, with prominent star campaigners and national leaders from various political parties engaging in roadshows, public meetings and outreach activities to seek votes for their candidates.
“For the Indian National Congress, All India Congress Committee General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member Mukul Wasnik campaigned today in Puducherry. Addressing the media, he said that despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of “BEST Puducherry”, the Union Territory has, over the past five years, become “the worst administered place in the country”. For the BJP, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi participated in a family gathering meeting at Mahe Beach. He said that Mahe has benefited from National Highway projects and highlighted key Central initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and public welfare. Congress Kerala leader K. Sudhakaran, MP, and Indian Union Muslim League leader Munavar Ali Shihad Thangal campaigned for the Congress candidate in Mahe. Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy campaigned in the Nettapakkam constituency for NDA candidates. Opposition Leader and DMK leader R. Siva campaigned in the Thillai Nagar and SMV Puram areas of Villianur, highlighting development works carried out during his tenure as MLA. Communist Party of India (Marxist) Central Committee Member G. Ramakrishnan campaigned for CPI(M) candidates in the Lawspet and Ozhukarai constituencies. Meanwhile, the BJP and its NDA allies are set to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will arrive in Puducherry tomorrow for campaigning. He is scheduled to arrive in the evening from Chennai and will hold a roadshow besides addressing the public and party workers. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will visit Puducherry on April 4 and 6, respectively, for campaign events. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Tamil Nadu Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, actor Vijay, Tamil Nadu BJP State Vice President, actress Khusboo Sundar, and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K.Sivakumar are also scheduled to visit Puducherry to campaign for their respective party candidates.
