The eighth National Nutrition Month concluded today in Dehradun. This event marked the culmination of a month-long public movement dedicated to nutrition awareness, community participation and behaviour change. On this occasion, some women and children beneficiaries were provided with nutrition kits. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, said that the Nutrition Campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8, 2018, has now become a mass movement. She stated that the children of today’s well-nourished India will be the citizens of a well-nourished India in 2047. She said that this year’s Nutrition Month was also special because not only women, but also men and youth, were integral to the month, making it a truly inclusive campaign.
On this occasion, various stalls of the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Education departments, including those related to the Nutrition Campaign, Supplementary Nutrition, Mission Shakti, Nari Niketan and Bal Grih were inspected.
Uttarakhand’s Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi, Additional Secretary of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, Luv Aggarwal and senior officials of the Uttarakhand government were present at the function.
