ED Conducts Raids in Jammu, Targets Multiple Revenue Officials

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today carried out searches at multiple locations in Jammu, targeting several Revenue officials and others allegedly involved in a multi-crore land scam. That teams of the central agency, assisted by local police and CRPF, swooped down on the residences and offices of officers linked to the case, seizing documents and digital records believed to be connected with illegal land transactions.

The ED action comes after inputs were shared by investigating agencies regarding ‘money laundering’ angles in the scam. While the exact number of premises searched is not immediately known, the officials confirmed that the crackdown included both serving and retired officers of the Revenue Department, besides private individuals alleged to be beneficiaries.

The searches are aimed at unearthing the trail of proceeds of crime and identifying key conspirators. However, a team of the Income Tax Department conducted a raid at the residence of a property dealer in Udhampur’s Housing Colony. The IT team, led by an Assistant Director rank officer, conducted the raid following reports of suspected tax evasion and possession of undisclosed income by the said property dealer. During the raid, officials searched the premises and seized some documents. More details are awaited.
