Election Commission of India- ECI is organising extensive Electronic Voting Machines- EVMs and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) Awareness Campaigns across the poll-bound States and Union Territories. The ECI said, these campaigns are being undertaken in the states of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal to familiarise voters with the functioning of EVMs. The Commission highlighted that over 1 lakh 20 thousand electors took part in the EVM Demonstration camps established at District Election Officer (DEO) Headquarters as well as at Returning Officer and Revenue Sub-Division Headquarters across all these states and UTs.
The ECI said that the aim of this campaign is to increase voter confidence by providing practical experience of the machines, clarifying doubts regarding their functioning, and ensuring transparency in the electoral process.
