The Election Commission of India today issued a Gazette Notification for the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections. Briefing the media persons in Guwahati, CEO, Assam, Anurag Goel said the nomination process begins today and the last date for making a nomination is 23rd March for all the 126 assembly constituencies. He informed me that of the 126 seats, nine have been reserved for the Scheduled Castes and 19 for the Scheduled Tribes. There are 2 crore 50 lakh 21 thousand 413 voters in the state. The polling will be held at 31 thousand 486 polling stations across the state with 100 per cent webcasting, added the CEO.
Mr Goel further informed that 200 companies of CAPF have already arrived in the state, and within this week, more CAPF companies will arrive. The LAC with the highest number of voters is 51-Dalgaon, and the LAC with the lowest number of voters is 112-Amri (ST). The 11-Mankachar LAC has the highest number of polling stations, and Dotma has the lowest number. Polling is scheduled to be held on 9th April for all 126 seats, and counting will be held on 4th May.
