In West Bengal, the Election Commission of India has announced a significant relaxation in the hearing process for voters temporarily residing abroad due to education, medical treatment, or official assignments. According to a directive issued by the State Chief Electoral Officer’s office, such voters are no longer required to appear in person for hearings related to unmapped cases or logical discrepancies.
According to the guidelines, if a voter is unable to attend the hearing due to their stay overseas, an authorised family member may appear on their behalf to submit the necessary documentation.
