The Election Commission has made full arrangements for strict surveillance at every polling station for the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal. An advanced control room has already been set up to keep strict vigil on the situation at every moment during voting.
According to Commission sources, 200 micro-observers will keep watch continuously before 90 high-tech TV screens. Surveillance will cover not only inside and outside the booths but also key roads and checkpoint areas.
Across the state, nearly 3,000 cameras have already been installed. In addition to fixed cameras at important locations, special cameras are being used on patrol vehicles.
Special observer Subrata Gupta stated that this time, cutting-edge technology is being deployed for monitoring. Live footage reaching the control room will be analyzed using special software capable of identifying individuals even within crowds.
If any suspicious gathering is detected near polling stations, instant alerts will be sent to micro-observers, enabling swift action. The Commission believes this will make rapid response much easier.
