The Election Commission today held a review meeting for the central observers deployed across Assam, Kerala and Puducherry ahead of the upcoming assembly polls. A total of 282 central observers, along with Chief Electoral officers of Assam, Kerala and Puducherry, attended the briefing through video conferencing. During the meeting, the Commission instructed the observers to ensure that elections are held in a festive mood, free and fair of any kind of intimidation, violence and inducement. The poll body also emphasised strict enforcement of the model code of conduct and prompt action in case of any complaints of violation. The observers were also directed to ensure the availability of minimum facilities at all polling stations, including a mobile phone deposit facility and benches in voter queues.
