Durga Puja, one of the biggest festivals for Bengalis, began on a colourful note with Mahasasthi celebrations across various parts of the country today.

The five-day-long festivity commenced with the invocation of Goddess Durga this evening.

As evening falls, the city comes alive with a riot of colours and dazzling illuminations, as thousands take to the streets to catch a glimpse of the idols. The rhythmic beating of drums and the festive sounds echoing through microphones add to the vibrant atmosphere.
