Drone attack targets Salalah port in Oman; expatriate worker injured

In Oman, an expatriate worker was moderately injured after two unmanned aerial vehicles targeted the port of Salalah. A security source said the drones struck port facilities, causing limited damage to a crane. The injured worker received medical treatment, while authorities moved quickly to secure the area and assess the extent of the damage.

Oman’s government strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a hostile act and reaffirming its commitment to protecting national security and ensuring the safety of residents and workers. The incident follows earlier tensions during the ongoing regional conflict. Fuel storage tanks at the Salalah port were previously targeted earlier this month, prompting emergency crews to battle a fire at the facility.

Oman has traditionally played a neutral diplomatic role in West Asia and had served as a mediator between the United States and Iran prior to the current escalation. Officials have not identified those responsible for the latest attack.
