In a major crackdown on organised gold smuggling, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has conducted Operation Dhahabu Blitz, leading to the recovery of over 25 kilograms of gold bars and 4.27 kilograms of gold jewellery that were illegally being smuggled into the country. DRI officials identified a group of female carriers arriving from Nairobi attempting to smuggle large quantities of gold.
