Benchmark domestic equity indices closed 0.83 per cent up today, supported by gains in technology and realty stocks. The Sensex climbed 633 points to close at 76 thousand and 704, while the Nifty jumped 197 points to settle at 23 thousand 778. Earlier, the markets opened on a positive note and moved upward with some volatility, but ultimately ended higher. Meanwhile, markets bounced back from last week’s sharp correction triggered by the West Asia conflict, marking their third consecutive session of Profits.
In the Sensex pack, shares of 24 out of 30 companies logged gains. Among the major performers, Etrenal rose almost 3.4 per cent, Tech Mahindra added nearly 3.3 per cent, and Infosys gained over 2.8 per cent. In contrast, NTPC slumped 1.3 percent, Hindustan Unilever lost over one per cent, and SunPharma dropped nearly 0.9 per cent.
Among the sectoral indices at the BSE, all sectors ended in positive territory except Metal, which fell by 0.1 per cent. Among the top gainers, Focused IT surged over 2.9 per cent, IT increased more than 2.8 per cent, and Realty advanced about 2.7 per cent.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive, as shares of 3 thousand and 202 companies advanced, 1 thousand and 88 declined, and 142 remained unchanged.
