The Regional Met department has predicted that the depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining East equatorial Indian Ocean lay centered about 630 km south southeast of Nagapattinam, 750 km south southeast of Puducherry and 830 km south south east of Chennai. It is likely to intensify into a deep depression during the next 12 hours and move towards the Srilankan and Tamilnadu coasts in two days. Due to the depression, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted till 29th of this month. Extremely heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places over Coastal Tamilnadu. Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places are likely in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Fishermen have been advised to avoid fishing on these days. Light to moderate showers have been witnessed in and around Chennai with overcast skies. Nagapattinam and Cuddalore saw continuous rains from this morning.
