The Department of Financial Services has reiterated its commitment towards promoting accessible and inclusive financial services for all citizens, including Persons with Disabilities. In a statement issued on the occasion of Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2026 today, the Department said accessibility is not merely a compliance requirement but an essential component of customer experience, digital inclusion and equitable financial participation.
The Department noted that it has issued Accessibility Standards and Guidelines for the Banking and Financial Services Sector to ensure equitable access to financial services for Persons with Disabilities through physical, digital and phygital modes. The Department of Financial Services said banks and financial institutions are being encouraged through policy support and periodic training programmes to strengthen accessibility awareness and integrate accessibility at every stage of service delivery and digital transformation. The Department has appealed to banks, financial institutions and all stakeholders to work collectively towards building a barrier-free and inclusive financial ecosystem where no customer is left behind.
