Denmark’s foreign minister has summoned the top US diplomat in Copenhagen after reports surfaced of covert American operations in Greenland. Danish broadcaster DR reported alleged attempts by US citizens to infiltrate Greenlandic society and promote secession from Denmark. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen called such interference unacceptable. Denmark’s intelligence agency, PET, warned of influence campaigns aimed at creating discord between Denmark and Greenland.

The incident has deeply unsettled Danes, especially amid past remarks from former US President Donald Trump suggesting the US could seize Greenland by force. Denmark, a NATO and EU member, views the US as a key ally, making the allegations particularly troubling. Meanwhile, the US embassy has yet to respond.
