The Delhi government successfully conducted its first cloud seeding flight trial yesterday. Delhi’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa informed that all technical trials have been completed and now the government is ready for actual cloud seeding when favourable cloud conditions appear between the 28th to 30th of this month. He added that the first-ever cloud seeding flight will begin from IIT Kanpur to Delhi via Meerut, Khekra, and Burari in the National Capital.
Highlighting the cloud seeding trial, Mr. Sirsa said, this has been conducted jointly by the Delhi Government’s Environment Department and IIT Kanpur. He added that during the trial, cloud seeding flares were successfully fired between Khekra and Burari, while the aircraft’s performance, equipment endurance, and safety protocols were thoroughly evaluated.
