Delhi-NCR: Air quality worsens to ‘severe’ as AQI drops to 426

The air quality in Delhi-NCR has deteriorated to ‘severe category’, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 426 recorded at 6 pm this evening. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI in Delhi’s Shadipur was recorded at 464, Anand Vihar at 442, Punjabi Bagh at 437, Okhla Phase-2 at 407, Chandni Chowk at 396 and Sri Aurobindo Marg at 287.

 

Shallow to moderate fog was observed early morning today, followed by a clear sky during the day at different parts of the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Delhi and NCR are likely to experience smog and shallow fog during the night and morning hours over the next 2 days. 

 

An AQI-Air Quality Index between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, and 301 and 400 very poor. An AQI between 401 and 450 is considered severe.
