Delhi: MCD directs District Health Officials to intensify vector control measures following Japanese Encephalitis case in Bindapur

Municipal Corporation of Delhi, MCD has directed District Health Officials and Epidemiologist to intensify Vector control measures after a case of Japanese Encephalitis, JE was reported recently from Bindapur area of the National Capital. The measures include larval source reduction and the launch of community-based initiatives, such as awareness campaigns, to prevent and control JE’s spread.

 

JE is a zoonotic viral infection caused by the JE virus. It is transmitted from animals and birds to humans by culex mosquito. The Case Fatality Rate of this disease is high, and those who survive may suffer from various degrees of neurological squeal.
