Delhi today launched an artificial rain experiment to tackle its severe air pollution. Delhi Enviornment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has informed that an aircraft took off from the IIT-Kanpur airstrip for a cloud-seeding operation over the National Capital as part of a pilot project led by the institute. He stated that this was the second trial in Delhi.
Mr Sirsa said that cloud seeding was done in Khekra, Burari, North Karol Bagh, Mayur Vihar, Sadakpur, and Bhojpur. He added that during the trial, eight cloud seeding flares were released using pyro techniques. The minister said that the IIT Kanpur team believes that it may rain in Delhi at any time in the next few hours.
