Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood has welcomed the decision of the Delhi High Court to stay the school fee hikes until the 12th of next month. In a statement, Mr Sood said the court’s order is a testament to the strong political will of the government and said it would provide much-needed relief to parents across the national capital. He added that parents in Delhi were suffering due to arbitrary fee hikes by private schools.
Mr Sood also clarified that no increased fee hikes will be implemented until the School Level Fee Regulation Committee -SLFRC is constituted after a hearing on the 12th of next month. The Minister further stated that the order is the final blow to the alleged nexus of the Aam Aadmi Party, certain vested-interest NGOs, and Private School managements. He also warned that if any school charged excessive fees for the academic session 2025-26, the Directorate of Education will examine and review the matter. He said that the necessary regulations will be implemented immediately after the next hearing.
