Delhi court grants bail to Indian Youth Congress President in India AI Impact Summit protest case

A Delhi court has granted bail to Indian Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib, who was arrested in connection with a protest at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.

Chib was produced before the Duty Magistrate around 1 AM today after the completion of his four-day police custody, which had been granted by the court on Tuesday. Duty Magistrate Vanshika Mehta was hearing the application filed by Delhi Police seeking a seven-day extension of his custody.

The court dismissed the plea and granted bail to Chib. Speaking to the media, Chib’s counsel said that bail was granted on a surety bond of 50 thousand rupees. The court has also directed him to surrender his passport and electronic gadgets. Earlier, the court had allowed four days of police custody to question Chib regarding his alleged role in the protest during the AI Summit.
