Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Presents ₹1.03 Lakh Crore Budget for 2026-27

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today presented the city government’s Annual Budget of ₹1,03,700 crore for the financial year 2026-27 at the Budget Session of the Delhi Assembly.

Addressing the session, the Chief Minister said Delhi’s per capita income is the third highest in the country. She added that Delhi’s contribution to the GDP is projected to increase from 3.67% in 2024-25 to 3.72% in 2025-26. She noted that 70.3% of the total budget has been allocated for revenue expenditure, while 29.7% has been earmarked for capital expenditure. The government is focusing on strengthening fiscal discipline while increasing capital investment in the upcoming financial year.

Chief Minister Gupta highlighted improvements in key financial indicators, stating that the tax-to-Gross State Domestic Product ratio is expected to rise from 4.95% in 2025-26 to 5.09% in 2026-27, reflecting better revenue performance. She further announced that Delhi is projected to maintain a strong revenue position, with a revenue surplus of ₹9,092 crore in the current financial year.

The Chief Minister emphasised that every policy in the budget considers environmental impact. She said 21% of the total budget has been allocated for a “green budget” to support environmental initiatives. She also announced an increase in the fire department’s allocation from ₹530 crore last year to ₹674 crore in 2026-27. Additionally, ₹202 crore will be allocated to extend Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme coverage to transgender individuals, and ₹225 crore has been earmarked for the installation of CCTV cameras across the capital.
