Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that the electric buses in the National Capital will be doubled by next year. She said that currently, around three thousand electric buses are running in the city, and by next year, the number will be six thousand. Laying the foundation stone of a three-storey DTC bus depot at Hari Nagar, Mrs Gupta said that the project is part of the Delhi government’s vision of a Viksit Delhi with stronger transport and better last-mile connectivity. The depot will house more than four hundred buses and 84 charging stations capable of charging electric buses within forty minutes. Designed as a green, self-sustainable building, it will feature rooftop solar plants, modern cleaning facilities and commercial avenues.
