Delhi Cabinet approves ₹100 Crore for rejuvenation of water bodies to curb pollution

The Delhi Cabinet today approved an amount of 100 crore rupees to rejuvenate water bodies across Delhi for long-term pollution abatement. Addressing a press conference, Delhi’s Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the rejuvenation of Delhi’s water bodies will play a crucial role in pollution control.

The Minister also emphasised that ‘NO PUCC – NO FUEL’ campaign will continue, even after the removal of GRAP-4 in the national capital. Mr Sirsa said that any vehicle plying without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate-PUCC is no less than committing a crime against Delhi’s air. He said that immediate inspections were also conducted on 12 PUCC centres that were negligent in maintaining the standards, and now they have been suspended and blacklisted.

Mr Sirsa added that from 1st April next year, the bus services operated by Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) in the capital will be terminated and will now be fully operated by Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). He further said that this will make bus operations more efficient, ensure timely service, and provide passengers with better connectivity and more convenient public transport.
