Delhi ACB files case against former Health Ministers over hospital construction scam

The Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi has registered a case against former Health Ministers Saurabh Bhardwaj and Satyendra Jain, in connection with large-scale corruption in health infrastructure projects during the AAP-led Delhi Government. In a statement, the Anti-Corruption Branch said that 24 hospital projects, including 11 greenfield and 13 brownfield, were sanctioned at a cost of more than five thousand five hundred crore rupees in 2018-19. These projects are mired in inexplicable delays and astronomical cost overruns, indicating large-scale financial embezzlement. The ACB said that massive irregularities, unexplained delays, and significant misappropriation of funds have been found in the construction of various hospitals, polyclinics and ICU infrastructure across the city. It said that substantial deviations and cost escalations, amounting to several hundred crores, were observed, and not a single project was completed within the prescribed timeline.
