A delegation comprising Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Sanjay Jaju, along with fashion designers and weavers, today met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in Kota, Rajasthan. The delegation met the Lok Sabha Speaker regarding the development of a new premium fabric by blending Rajasthan’s traditional Kota Doria with the famous Eri Silk of Northeast India.
During the meeting Mr. Birla said that Kota Doria is not merely a fabric, but a symbol of the Hadoti region’s identity and the hard work of its weavers. He stated that the new fabric would give fresh recognition to two rich handloom traditions of the country and also create new opportunities for artisans. He added that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F Vision, which is Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Fabric, Fabric to Fashion, Fashion to Foreign. The delegation stated that this initiative would open up new opportunities for weavers and artisans from both Rajasthan and the Northeastern region.
