The death toll due to rain-related incidents in Kolkata and adjoining areas has increased to 11. Water has receded from many areas in Kolkata and the suburbs, but many areas are still underwater. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced an ex gratia of 2 lakhs rupees for the next of kin of the deceased persons. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Education and DoNER and BJP leader Dr Sukanta Majumdar strongly criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the deaths due to waterlogging-related electrocution in Kolkata.
