The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti today organised the first District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad aimed at strengthening district-led governance and promoting innovation among districts under Jal Jeevan Mission. In his address, Secretary, DDWS Ashok K. K. Meena, emphasised that under Jal Jeevan Mission, over 81 percent rural household has been covered and the Mission has entered its next phase focused on institutional consolidation, accountability, and sustainability.
He said, the District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad provides an opportunity to identify such scalable and replicable models that can inspire cross-learning and guide policy improvement across States. During the programme, presentations were made by the District Collectors from East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, Ganjam in Odisha, Ratnagiri of Maharashtra, Charaideo in Assam, Dhamtari District of Chhattisgarh and North Tripura highlighting innovative district-level initiatives for sustainable rural water service delivery.
