Cuban Ambassador to India, Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera, today said that India is trying to resolve the situation regarding Venezuela through dialogue and diplomacy. Speaking to the media in New Delhi, the Ambassador said that everyone would like this problem to be resolved through a peaceful solution, not through military aggression. He said that India is playing an important role internationally today, participating in the main political decisions in the world.

He highlighted that the country’s leadership of the Global South promotes a new economic order based on international law and the respect for the UN charter. Mr Aguilera also mentioned that Cuba and India will celebrate 66 years of bilateral diplomatic relations on the 12th of this month.

Talking about the situation regarding Venezuela and US President Donald Trump’s actions, the Ambassador Aguilera said that it has ushered the world back to the time of the Cold War. He termed it as an illegal military invasion and said that it violates all the principles set out in the UN’s chapter on international law.
