Indian women go down fighting as Sri Lankan women chased down the target of 276 in their second round-robin game played at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka scored 278 runs, losing seven wickets with five balls to spare, to defeat India in ODIs after seven years. Put into bat, the Indian side put on a formidable 275 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Richa Ghosh top-scored with 58 runs with able support from the rest of the side, including Jemima Rodrigues(37), Pratika Rawal (35), and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (30). Chamari Athapaththu and Sugandika Kumari took three wickets each. In reply, Sri Lanka made a steady start, reaching 200 in the 37th over. Although wickets fell at regular intervals, fifties from Harshitha Samarawickrama and Nilakshi Silva helped the hosts stay ahead in the chase. For India, Sneh Rana took three wickets, while Arundhati Reddy, Shree Charani and Pratika Rawal took one wicket each.
