Congress candidate Anurag Sharma files his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha election

In Himachal Pradesh, Congress candidate Anurag Sharma today filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha election. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, members of the Council of Ministers, and Congress MLAs were present on the occasion.
 
The term of the sitting Rajya Sabha MP Indu Goswami will end on 9th of next month. Today was the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place tomorrow and 9th March is the last date for withdrawal of candidature. Polling is scheduled on 16th of March.
 
The opposition BJP has not fielded a candidate, and therefore, the election of Congress candidate Anurag Sharma is considered almost certain. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed gratitude to the party high command for nominating Anurag Sharma as the party’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha. He said that Anurag Sharma is currently serving as the Kangra District Congress President.
