Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy today virtually launched the 14th tranche of commercial coal mine auctions in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Reddy emphasized that the auction is aimed to promote ease of doing business, attract diverse investments, and encourage wider industry participation.
The Minister added that for the first time the Coal and Mines Ministry is introducing provisions for Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) within the auction framework. He added that this will help in enabling the extraction of deep-seated unmineable reserves.
The Minister also launched the Koyla Shakti Dashboard which provides an easy interface to track the coal supply chain from mine to market. It is aimed to improve coordination among coal companies, ports, railways, and end users through real-time data sharing. During the event, the Coal Land Acquisition Management, and Payment Portal-CLAMP was also launched to digitise the land acquisition, compensation, and rehabilitation processes across coal public sector units.
The 14th round of auction will offer a fresh set of fully explored and partially explored coal blocks for auction, inviting participation from experienced miners, new entrants, and technology-driven enterprises alike.
