Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang visited disaster-affected areas in Rangpo under Pakyong district. He met and interacted with the people housed at Nepali Bhawan, Golitar relief camp, Bardang, Bageykhola, Divya Jyoti school, Majitar, Mining SSS, Chanatar relief camp and assured all possible assistance.
The Chief Minister also inspected the Atal Setu Bridge.
After an extensive tour of Rangpo, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang visited Singtam town, one of the worst affected regions following the Glacial Lake Outburst Flood, to take stock of the relief and restoration work underway and to assess the extent of the damage.
At the relief camp at Singtam Senior Secondary School, he met the affected families and assured them that the state government is making every effort to lessen the challenges of individuals who have been displaced because of the natural calamity.
While at the relief camp, the Chief Minister made an ex gratia announcement of 4 lakhs rupees to the families of deceased Indian citizens whose mortal remains have been located and identified.
The Chief Minister also announced an immediate relief of 2000 rupees each to those who are being sheltered in the relief camps in the area. This, he informed, is a temporary aid from the state government while the actual extent of the damages are being computed on a daily basis.
He directed the district administration to extend all possible aid towards the rehabilitation of the displaced families.
The Chief Minister reiterated the strategy of the state government – rescue, evacuation and rehabilitation, and that children, women and senior citizens will be given top priority during the evacuation and recovery operations.
He informed that rescue operations are underway and that relief teams are putting all efforts towards ensuring that the displaced families are put on the path to normalcy at the earliest.
The Chief Minister further informed the evacuees that all aid and facilities, including medical and logistical support for individuals, from outside the state working here and who wish to return home, are being offered free of cost.
