In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today transferred ten thousand rupees each to 21 lakh women beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The amount was transferred just before the implementation of the model code of conduct in view of the assembly elections in the state. A total amount of 2,100 crore rupees was transferred to the accounts of women beneficiaries by the Chief Minister.
This is the third phase of fund transfer to the beneficiaries under the scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched this scheme on September 26 through video conferencing from New Delhi. More than 1.1 crore women beneficiaries have been selected for this scheme in Bihar. The scheme is implemented by the Rural Development Department, and aims to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment among women. The scheme is being carried out through self-help groups.
