Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu today flagged off Amazon Air’s inaugural cargo flight from Delhi to Guwahati, boosting air cargo connectivity for the North-East. In a social media post, the Minister said the dedicated air cargo service will significantly reduce shipment time to the region and support the farmers, artisans and entrepreneurs of the North-East by connecting them to both domestic and global markets. Mr Naidu said the air cargo service to Guwahati is a testimony to the growing prospects of businesses in Guwahati and overall economic activity in Assam. The Minister further said that today, every state in the North-East has an operational airport, with the number of airports increasing from 9 in 2014 to 16 at present. Mr Naidu added that the Government is focused on strengthening air cargo infrastructure in the North-East to help local horticultural and perishable products reach wider markets, advancing the vision of Vocal for Local.’
