Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu today said that the government is prioritising sustainable infrastructure and improved connectivity as part of ongoing development efforts in Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh. He was speaking after flagging off the trial halt of the Visakhapatnam-Gunupur fast passenger train at Harischandrapuram railway station in Kotabommali mandal, along with State Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu.
The Union Minister said the new halt would enhance travel convenience for people in surrounding rural areas and strengthen railway connectivity in the district. He noted that expanding rail access and establishing new halts are part of a broader plan to improve public transport infrastructure across Srikakulam.
He added that the government would take up development of approach roads to the station and provide solar lighting to improve passenger facilities. Emphasising inclusive growth, he said efforts are being made to ensure better transport connectivity to every village.
Highlighting recent initiatives, he referred to road development works in Injampadu and the construction of a bridge near Garibula Gadda, which have improved connectivity for coastal communities in the district. He also said that efforts would be made to secure a halt for the Prasanthi Express at Kotabommali and to address traffic congestion at the railway gate in Tekkali town. He thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for sanctioning the halt.
