Chief Electoral Officer of Goa issues clarification after using term OCI during press conference

The Chief Electoral Officer of Goa has issued a clarification after inadvertently using the term “OCI” during a press conference in Panaji on Sunday. While speaking about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, the CEO meant to refer to overseas electors and not OCI cardholders. Officials confirmed that Goa currently has 88 overseas electors – all Indian citizens residing abroad. The Election Commission has also provided an online facility for them to submit their enrolment forms. The CEO said the incorrect use of the term created some confusion, and the clarification has been issued to remove any doubts among voters.
