In Chhattisgarh, two Maoists were killed today in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district. The bodies of the Maoists have been recovered. Security forces had received intelligence inputs about the presence of a large number of Maoists in the south-western part of the district, following which a search operation was launched in the area.
This afternoon, an encounter took place between security forces and the Maoists. So far, the bodies of two Maoists have been recovered from the site. One .303 rifle, a BGL launcher, and other explosive materials have also been seized. Two personnel of the District Reserve Guard were injured during the encounter. Their condition is stated to be out of danger.
Meanwhile, in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, twelve Maoists surrendered today. Superintendent of Police Robinson Guria informed that out of those who surrendered, nine carried a total reward of eighteen lakh rupees on their heads. In Sukma district, security forces have arrested four Maoists. A tiffin bomb and other explosive materials were recovered from their possession.
