In Chhattisgarh, the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls has commenced from today. Under this exercise, Booth Level Officers are visiting households across various assembly constituencies to distribute enumeration forms.
This verification process will continue till the 4th of December. Around twenty-seven thousand BLOs in the state will identify voters and verify their documents.
State Chief Electoral Officer, Yashwant Kumar, said that voters’ names, which were included in the SIR in the year 2003, will not be required to submit documents again.
He added that voters will have to present any one of the thirteen documents prescribed by the Election Commission.
The Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to all citizens to actively participate in the SIR process. He urged all voters to ensure the verification of their names in the electoral rolls.
