Centre Plans Temple Tourism Development in Andhra Pradesh under PRASHAD Scheme

Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu today said that the Centre is preparing plans to further develop tourist destinations around prominent temples in Andhra Pradesh under the PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive) scheme.

Earlier in the day, the Minister offered prayers at the Kanipakam Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy Temple in Chittoor district in the state. Speaking to the media after the visit, Mr. Naidu said the government aims to strengthen infrastructure and amenities at pilgrimage centres to boost spiritual tourism in the state.

He noted that the PRASHAD scheme focuses on improving facilities such as connectivity, sanitation, and other tourist services in temple towns, making them more accessible and visitor-friendly. The Minister also said that national highway projects are progressing rapidly in Andhra Pradesh under the coalition government and expressed confidence that improved infrastructure will further accelerate the state’s growth.

Stating that Andhra Pradesh is attracting investors from across the globe, Mr. Naidu said several new industries are expected to be established in the near future, generating employment opportunities and contributing to the state’s economic development.
