Centre disburses over Rs 2,461 Cr as 15th Finance Commission grants to 8 states

The Centre has disbursed over 2,461 crores of rupees as 15th Finance Commission grants to eight states. It has released tied grants during the financial year 2025-26 to Rural Local Bodies in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Sikkim. It has also released withheld portions of both tied and untied grants to Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Tripura.

The release covers allocations pertaining to different financial years and aims to further strengthen rural local governance. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj said over 945 crore rupees have been released to Madhya Pradesh, over 764 crore to Gujarat, around 387 crore to Chhattisgarh, over 332 crore to Punjab, over 35 crore to Odisha, around 14 crore to Himachal Pradesh, over 10 crore to Sikkim and over 68 lakh rupees to Tripura.
