Centre approves appointment of Justice Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak as Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court

The Centre has approved the appointment of Justice Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. As per a notification issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice, President Droupadi Murmu has approved Justice Sonak’s appointment. Justice Sonak, who is currently a judge of the Bombay High Court, will assume office upon the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on the 8th of this month.
 
The appointment follows the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium at its recent meeting. The government has also approved the appointment of two judges to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, following the recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium. As per the notification, judges Ramesh Chander Dimri and Neerja Kulwant Kalson will be appointed as Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, for a period of two years.
