Over 3,300 Crore allocated to Nirbhaya Fund in last five years: MoS Savitri Thakur

The Centre has allocated more than 33 hundred crore rupees into the Nirbhaya Fund for the last five years. Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur informed this in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today. The Central Government has established the Nirbhaya Fund, aimed at enhancing the safety and security of women and girls in the country.

The Minister said that under the Framework for Nirbhaya Fund, an Empowered Committee of officers has been constituted under the chairpersonship of the Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development. She said that, depending on the requirements for the year, and taking into account the balance amount already available in the Public Account of Nirbhaya Fund.
