Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil has said that the central government is committed to ensuring that no village or farmland in the country remains deprived of water over the next four years and that India becomes drought-free. The minister was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the earthworks, construction, and lining of the Godavari Right Bank Canal under Phase 1 of the Maharashtra Irrigation Improvement Programme, held at Astagaon in Rahata Taluka, Ahilyanagar district. He noted that across the country, over 13 lakh recharge structures have already been implemented, resulting in significant water savings.
