In Bihar, the first phase of Census 2027 began today with the commencement of house listing and housing enumeration across the state. The exercise has started following the conclusion of the 15-day notice period for self-enumeration, which ended on the 1st of May. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the house listing and housing enumeration process will continue till the 30th of May.

During this period, trained enumerators will visit households door-to-door to collect the required information. Officials said that the self-enumeration process in the state concluded yesterday. Citizens who could not complete the process on their own will now have their details recorded by enumerators during home visits.

The second phase of Census 2027 is scheduled to be conducted in February next year. In this phase, detailed information including age, gender, occupation, literacy, caste, and other socio-economic indicators will be collected. The Census exercise is aimed at generating comprehensive data to support policy planning and development initiatives.
